NVIDIA today introduced the NVIDIA® GeForce(TM) 6200 graphics processing unit(GPU) with TurboCache(TM) technology. NVIDIA TurboCache is a new, patentedhardware and software technology, which allows a GPU to render directly tosystem memory, instead of using local memory on the graphics card. NVIDIATurboCache technology lowers on-board memory requirements, enabling systembuilders to deliver PCs with more feature-rich GPUs and offer their customersbetter graphics performance and advanced capabilities previously unattainable atvalue prices.
"Customers in the value segment previously have had to settle for technologythat was one generation behind the cutting edge, high-end GPUs," said UjeshDesai, general manager of desktop graphics for NVIDIA. "For the first time ever,NVIDIA TurboCache will deliver the award-winning feature set found oncurrent-generation high-end GPUs to the value segment of the PC market."
NVIDIA has re-architected the 3D graphics pipeline for the GeForce 6200 GPU withTurboCache to allow direct rendering from the GPU to system memory by leveragingthe bi-directional PCI Express bandwidth. The TurboCache Manager dynamicallyallocates memory for maximum system performance while intelligent softwarealgorithms maximize application performance.
The GeForce 6200 GPUs with TurboCache offer best-in-class performance in thevalue segment(1) by taking the GeForce 6 Series graphics architecture, which hasbeen described as the most advanced in the world, top-to-bottom in the NVIDIAproduct line-up. GeForce 6200 GPUs with TurboCache are the only graphicsprocessors in the value segment that:
-- Support Microsoft(R) DirectX(R) 9.0 Shader Model 3.0, which is being
used to develop ultra-realistic, next-generation DirectX 9.0 games
-- Feature NVIDIA PureVideo(TM) technology, a combination of hardware and
software that brings consumer electronics-quality video to the PC
-- Are backed by the NVIDIA ForceWare(TM) software suite and NVIDIA
Unified Driver Architecture (UDA), ensuring industry-renowned
compatibility and reliability for a great user experience
GeForce 6200 GPUs with TurboCache are shipping now and graphics cards areanticipated to be available from leading add-in card manufacturers and insystems from leading PC OEMs in January 2005.
NVIDIA today announced a tidal wave of industry support for its recentlyannounced NVIDIA® TurboCache(TM) technology. Many of the world's leading PCOEMs, system builders, and add-in card partners have announced plans to buildsystems and graphics cards utilizing the new NVIDIA GeForce(TM) 6200 graphicsprocessing unit (GPU) with TurboCache technology. The following is a partiallist of the PC OEMs, system builders, and add-in card manufacturers that will beoffering NVIDIA GeForce 6200 GPUs with TurboCache technology.
